Essence of Learning: There’s no learning without remembering. Remembering the basic information helps you learn advanced skills and excel in any field. Remembering is linked to memory. There exist only trained and untrained memories. Memory is one of the greatest magical assets we have. It’s the ultimate magnifier in your life. Your intelligence, learning ability, and memory can be improved, no matter what your age, background, or IQ level is. Memory potentiality is dramatically infinite. 4 Core Elements of Learning Any Skill or Subject: The F.A.S.T Method F stands for Forget: At first, forget all the things you know about the subject. It’s important to awaken interest in that subject. Any incomplete, previous knowledge will hinder deep learning of the particular skill or subject. Forget things happening in your surroundings. In order to dive into the learning topic, one must solely focus and forget about other distractions. Prioritize focusing solely on that without allowing any distractions. You can only focus on 7 bits of information. Attention diversion is the biggest hurdle for people learning new things. Forget limiting beliefs. Beliefs such as: – My potential is limited. – I am too old to learn this or that; my brain has stopped adapting to new things. – I couldn’t change this habit or learn this in my early stages of life, so I definitely can’t learn now. – My IQ is very poor. I never had a good CGPA, so I should not try anymore. – I am making mistakes repeatedly, so it’s evident that learning these is impossible for me. These are a few examples of limiting beliefs. If you have such thoughts, leave them behind and dispose of them for good. Forget negative self-talk. Your brain is like a computer, and what you say are the programs. If you program negative thoughts, it will respond accordingly. Be careful about your thinking. People can say negative things which can’t be controlled, but yours can, and it’s your strength. A stands for Active: Actively participating in education makes learning effective. Things that make you an active learner include asking questions because questions are answers. Ask yourself, how are you going to apply this knowledge? Take active notes. According to Ebbinghaus’ Forgetting Curve, we forget about 75% of our learning after a day or two. A brain note-taking method is to take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle of the page. On the left side, take notes as information. On the other side, make notes using F.A.S.T., questions, icons, and visuals. It will triple your learning. S stands for State: State refers to our current situation, mood, and physical condition. All learning depends on it. During learning, try to notice your mind and body feelings. Attach emotions to your learning. State is controlled by changing the mind and body. When the body moves, energy grooves. A 30-minute exercise, walk, or cold shower will change your body state and thus change your mind. T stands for Teach: Teaching someone what you’ve learned will make your learning effective. During learning, think as if you’re to teach this to a 5-year-old kid. How will you prepare? What will your focus level be? Learning is not boring; we make it so. These tips can help you learn better. Apply them to learning any language, skill, at any stage, age of your life. Make learning open the door to earning at the next level in your life.
